Development
Development is the first stage in a project’s life cycle.
Working closely with the sales team, which is the source of projects, it involves evaluating opportunities identified by our regional developers, analyzing technical and economic feasibility, obtaining the necessary authorizations, and structuring the project.
Our development teams work closely with local stakeholders and our in-house engineering team to ensure optimal integration and project viability.
Related professions
Our regional developers are each specialized in their own area in solar rooftops and park shelters, as well as battery storage sites. They are responsible for identifying and securing opportunities with farmers, local authorities, commercial real estate players, logistics companies, and manufacturers. Their mission is to identify and prospect new customers, understand their energy needs, and offer them tailor-made solutions while handling negotiations and commercial follow-up.
To ensure that offers are technically viable, each regional develeoper works together with a Project Manager. This collaboration allows them to refine the solutions offered in order to provide site owners with tailored support right through to the installation of the photovoltaic plant.
The Project Manager is a true orchestrator who oversees the development of projects from A to Z: they provide technical support upstream by carrying out diagnostics and analyzing solar potential in order to propose a suitable technical and economic solution during the commercial phase.
They are responsible for studies, design, and administrative procedures, including permit and grid connection applications. They are is also involved in the selection of equipment and subcontractors, while ensuring that quality, budget, and deadline commitments are met.
Construction
Once the project has been approved, the construction phase can begin.
This includes selecting suppliers and subcontractors, managing the work, and ensuring that deadlines, budgets, and quality and safety standards are met.
Our construction teams closely monitor the site to ensure delivery in the best possible conditions and anticipate any technical constraints.
Related professions
The site managers are responsible for their area and ensure that projects are carried out correctly, from preparation to delivery. They coordinate subcontractors, plan work, and ensure that deadlines, budgets, and safety standards are met.
As the guarantor of the quality of the installations, they supervise the assembly of solar panels and provide technical support to the various partners. Their role is essential to ensuring the success of projects and optimizing solar energy production.
Financing
The Smart Energies Group finances most of the projects it develops itself.
Financing is a key lever in ensuring the economic viability of a project.
Our Financing team structures financial arrangements combining equity and senior debt, and negotiates with banking institutions to optimise financing terms.
Rigorous investment and risk management ensures the profitability and sustainability of the entire power plant portfolio.

Operation
Operation marks the commissioning of power plants and their long-term management.
Our teams provide technical and administrative supervision of the power plants with a view to ensuring operational performance.
In recent years, Smart Energies has also internalized maintenance activities and now has its own teams of technicians to work on the facilities.
This maximizes profitability and guarantees efficient and sustainable operation.
Related professions
Asset managers play a key role in managing and optimizing the group’s solar assets. Their responsibilities fall into two main areas: supervising operational assets and providing technical support to development teams.
Working with our maintenance teams, they are responsible for monitoring the performance of solar power plants, preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal energy production. At the same time, he or she is responsible for designing new solar installations, sizing equipment, and conducting technical feasibility studies.
His or her work also involves optimizing the energy profitability of projects and drafting the technical files required for authorizations.
Corporate functions
Legal, HR, Communications, Accounting, and Controlling are teams which are essential to the smooth running of projects.
Each of these teams plays a key role in Smart Energies’ performance.
Their expertise and assistance to operational teams enable development within a secure and optimized framework that promotes collective success.
